LAS VEGAS

Banion's Horseshoe A plain friendly casino/bar. Fremont Street
Golden Gate Gaming tables and machines are closely packed in to this slightly down-market bar/casino, in the oldest hotel in Las Vegas. Fremont Street
Holy Cow Brewery No escape from the fruit machines even here! I tried a superb Apricot Wheat and a very nice Stout in this pleasant brewpub with a slight variation on the usual warehouse style - It's painted in a Fresian Cow colour scheme! The food is good. Las Vegas Boulevard South / Sahara Avenue
Monte Carlo Pub and Brewery Modern industrial decor in this brewpub in the Monte Carlo Casino complex. Some excellent tasting beers included a so-called "Belgian Wit" which was not cloudy, but who cares - it tasted great. Instead of a pitcher you can order a yard high glass column of beer with a tap on the bottom. Goodness knows how much beer it holds. Monte Carlo
Omaha Lounge A large casino/bar with a live band playing on a small stage. Drinks are much cheaper here in Downtown Las Vegas than they are on the strip. Plaza Hotel
Fremont Street / Main Street
Quark's Bar Modelled on the bar on Deep Space Nine, this place has a remarkable range of beers including Klingon Warnog Ale, Romulan Ale, Klingon Blood Draft, Cardassian Pale and Obsidian Dark. Some of them have colours unusual to human eyes! A cosmopolitan clientele included some Klingons when I was there. Las Vegas Hilton
Paradise Road / Riviera Boulevard
Rain Forest Cafe Spoof jungle decor complete with (carefully controlled) real rain and an impressive tropical thunderstorm sequence. The menu looks OK but we just sat on the bar stools and enjoyed a beer.
Skyview Lounge There's absolutely no view of the sky from this standard casino bar. Circus Circus
Sports Bar This one differs from the usual casino bars in that it has TVs showing sports and news above the bar. It is also in a slightly less noisy part of the casino. Circus Circus
Starlight Lounge No draft beer in this bar separated from the incessant racket of the fruit machines. The live band were quite good when I visited. Stardust
Top Of The World Lounge A superb view from this bar at the top of the Stratosphere Tower. No draft beer, but reasonable prices on the bottles. The bar is on a balcony overlooking the revolving restaurant but the doesn't itself move, except that the roller coaster running above causes the floor to shake!
I drank my first beer as a forty year old here.
Stratosphere
West Casino Bar An ordinary casino bar, serving a few draught lagers, and only a couple of paces from the gaming machines. West Casino, Circus Circus
