Houghton Arms Burtonwood / Carling A very nicely done out pub at the end of an old terrace surrounded by new housing. Two bars plus a nice side lounge, a pool room and a raised seating area, all partially knocked through.

John Smith's, Tetley / Carlsberg, Foster's, Stella A nicely decorated pub partially knocked through but with low walls and wide pillars to break up the space. LSTVs, a pool table and a small dance floor provide youth-oriented entertainment. There's a nice beer garden at the back.
In 1660 Richard Legh of Lyme in Cheshire bought Newton from the Fleetwood family and became Lord of the Manor.

Newmarket Hand pumpTetley / Carlsberg, Foster's Outside this looks like a small street corner pub, inside there's two bars, side rooms and a large function room at the rear, all nicely done out. They serve a fine pint of Tetley.
