Dove and Olive Branch This enormous free-standing late 30s (?) building included a big plain somewhat faded and rather grubby public bar, a very pleasant "snug lounge" and a very large lounge, complete with dance floor, occupied by a private party when I was there. According to my map, there was a little kink in the county boundary specially to include this pub in Merseyside. A sign warned that if anyone was caught taking drugs, the whole group would be banned. Now closed and sadly demolished.

Dunnies Club (Fox)

The Fox was a nice knocked through one bar pub, very popular for Sunday dinner, and the food looked good. It had a large beer garden behind.
Dunnies Club is a proper members' club where visitors such as myself have to sign in. The lounge is pleasant and comfortable, and there's a large function suite as well.

Outside, a classic 50s estate boozer looking a little run down. Inside, however, I found a very nicely done out recently refurbished pub with one knocked through bar plus a back pool room.
Now closed.

There's a plain front bar with LSTV, a deserted lounge, and a side pool room in this rather tatty estate pub. A large LFC display and a smaller one for EFC at opposite sides of the bar. I'm told it was refurbished in 2010.
I think this is now closed.

From the outside this is a slightly down at heel pub on the edge of the Speke housing estate. Inside I was pleased to find, almost untouched, the original 50s decor with dark wood panelling. Bar and (deserted) lounge sides seemed well looked after while the pool room at the back looked a touch tatty. (I've said 50s but parts of this estate are pre-war so it could be 30s.)
Sadly now closed and demolished.

Wetherspoon's Argosy
Hand pump
A small pleasant Wetherspoons in the shops/restaurants area before security, atmospheric or just dark, depending on your taste. Very friendly service, and my pint was scrupulously topped up. Airport prices though!
Now closed.
